Hi all and happy September! 🫶
Is it just me or did August fly by? Anyway, I hope the month treated you kindly and that you encountered some splendid reads!
I read a total of five books in August that were all wonderful in their own way. I mostly committed to finishing a series I started back in July. I loved every book I read, making it a delightful reading month.
Without further ado, let’s get into what I read last month and my thoughts on each one! 💕

The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean
Sunyi Dean introduces us to the world of book eaters, supernatural beings that consume books as food. The protagonist, Devon, is a young book eater woman on the run with her son, Cai. This was such an exciting and refreshing read which I enjoyed immensely. You can read my full review for this one here.
In addition, I read the remaining Heroes of Olympus books by Rick Riordan that I had yet to get to — books two through five. I loved this series so much! Here are my thoughts:

#2: The Son of Neptune
Percy has finally made it to Camp Jupiter with near to no recollection of who he is. Ah, it felt so good to be back with Percy! As a whole, I really enjoyed this book. I thought Riordan did a fantastic job of introducing the reader to the new demigod camp and characters. I especially like that this series includes a more diverse cast than the first one. Most importantly, this book does a great job at getting us excited for the grand adventure that is to follow!

#3: The Mark of Athena
In this book, we finally see the Seven come together and begin their quest. And I thought it was just wonderful! I relished seeing the characters’ different dynamics and how they learn to work together as a team. Mostly, I appreciated having Annabeth’s perspective for the first time and seeing her take center stage. Some key moments for this book would be the Percabeth reunion and the incredible ending that left us on a shocking cliffhanger. (No spoilers!) This book was nonstop fun and action, making it a terrific read.

#4: The House of Hades
I’ve wanted to read this book for years now and I’m thrilled to say that it did not disappoint one bit. Our heroes are tasked with finding the House of Hades and opening the Doors of Death to rescue their friends and protect the mortal world from monsters. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved every minute of it. We really see the characters grow in this one, as they are met with the worst challenges so far. I especially adored Leo and Nico’s arcs in this book — they’re just perfect! I think this is the strongest in the series and is my absolute favorite.

#5: The Blood of Olympus
Our heroes are finally near the end of their quest! I thought this was a great finale to the series. The final adventure is filled with exciting moments that fans will love. The POVs in this book were probably one of my favorites, as I loved the bits with Nico and Reyna. I think one of the series’ strongest points, as a whole, is how the author excels at giving each character their own distinct POV. Riordan really makes you care for his characters and gives them each their time to shine. Overall, I’m more than satisfied with how the series wrapped up. It was an incredible reading experience that I’ll cherish forever. I can’t recommend it enough!
I plan to take a break from Camp Half-Blood for now but I am eager to read the Trials of Apollo series one day. Especially considering we’re getting a Nico series soon! (Ah, I might just pass out from the joy!)
